Building a Relationship
We all encounter that point in our lives when the pathway through can seem unclear. Deciding to seek counselling or psychotherapy can be the first step in exploring a way forward but it can also be a daunting prospect. That is where I will meet you with compassion and empathy to explore ways through that feel right for you. I believe that “It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried” (Carl Rogers).
My role is to walk alongside you as we unearth what might be hidden or buried and find a way through, together.

A Safe Space
Therapy and counselling provide a safe space where you can be really listened to, understood and accepted. You can explore past and present difficulties at your own pace, knowing that you will be met with compassion and empathy. Whatever brings you to seek support at this time, a warm and supportive relationship will enable you to bring unconscious patterns of thinking and feelings into awareness. Being met with kindness in a safe therapeutic space can allow you to see yourself with increasing clarity and compassion.

Confidentiality
Confidentiality, respect and trust are key elements in a therapeutic relationship. You will most likely seek counselling at a time when you are feeling particularly vulnerable, when you are confronted with stressful life changes, traumatic experiences or symptoms of mental illness. That is why confidentiality is so important: it should empower you to feel comfortable disclosing your private thoughts and feelings, knowing they will be met without judgement and will remain between us.

Our view of the world and how we respond to life events is based on our personal history, our unique values, individual needs and expectations. Talking to a qualified professional can help you find insight, clarity and a greater awareness of your inner resources. We will work together to co-create strategies to enable you to cope better and move forward. Together, we will explore the different paths available to you so that you can decide on the direction you wish to take.
